Vitamin B2
General information:
Vitamin B2 also known as Riboflavin is found in small amounts in many foods like Lean meats, eggs, legumes, nuts, green leafy vegetables, dairy products, and milk. Vitamin B2 plays a major role in energy production and is an essential nutrient needed for healthy growth and overall health of the human body with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies show that taking 200-400 mg/day of riboflavin significantly reduced the number of migraine attack frequency in the majority of children and adolescents.
Indications:
Riboflavin Deficiency
Migraine Prophylaxis
Age-related Cataracts, eye fatigue, and glaucoma
Decreased symptoms of Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS)
Some people take oral riboflavin for helping to treat acne, muscle cramps, burning feet syndromes, carpal tunnel syndromes, some blood disorders such as methemoglobinemia and red blood cells aplasia, high homocysteine level, and various types of cancer (cervical cancer, colorectal cancer)
Contraindication:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients.
Warnings:
Close the lid of the of the container after each use.
Dosing consideraition:
Vitamin B2 is safe for most people when taken by mouth. In some people, Vitamin B2 causes yellow-orange discoloration of the urine. It may also cause diarrhea in high doses.
Special population:
Hepatic impairment: Vitamin B2 absorption may decrease in people with hepatitis, cirrhosis, and biliary obstruction.
Renal impairment: no dosage adjustments needed.
Breast-feeding & Pregnancy:
Vitamin B2 in higher doses than RDA may not be always recommended if you are planning a pregnancy, during pregnancy, or whilst breastfeeding. Please consult your healthcare
rofessional.
Do not give Riboflavin to a child without medical advice.
Dosage & indication:
Dietary supplement: qa\100mg once or twice daily
Migraine prophylaxis: Children weighing 20-40 kg: 200 mg/day and from 8 years old (or >40 kg):400 mg/day with food.
Drug Interactions:
Anticholinergic drugs, Tricyclic antidepressants, Phenobarbital and Probenecid can affect riboflavin absorption.
Take riboflavin 2 hours before or 4 hours after taking Tetracycline.

Overdose:
If you accidentally use more than the recommended amount, immediately contact your doctor or treatment center to obtain further Information.
Side effects:
There were a few serious reported side effects of vitamin B2. Side effects are typically mild and brief, stopping without any treatment needed. yellow discoloration of the urine and diarrhea are the most common adverse effects. Check with your health care professional if you have signs of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
