
Valacyclovir

This medicine is prescribed for your current illness, so do not use it in similar cases or recommend it to others.

Indications:
Valacyclovir is an antiviral drug.
For treatment of:
herpes labialis in immunocompetent & HIV patients
herpes genitalis in immunocompetent & HIV patients
herpes zoster (shingles) infection in immunocompetent patients.
varicella (chickenpox) infection
acute retinal necrosis (ARN) due to varicella-zoster virus in persons living with HIV.
primary cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease prophylaxis
Dosage & method of use:
The exact amount of this medicine is determined by the doctor.
May be administered without regard to meals.
Contraindications:
Do not use this medicine if you suffer from the following conditions.
acyclovir hypersensitivity or valacyclovir hypersensitivity
The safe use of valacyclovir in neonates, infants, and children less than 2 years old has not been established
Breast-feeding & Pregnancy:
Adverse effects of valacyclovir on pregnancy have not been reported so far, but due to the lack of clinical evidence, this drug is usually not recommended during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or not knowing whether you are pregnant or not, you should consult your doctor. Acyclovir can enter breast milk. Although such a phenomenon is not considered harmful for infants, its use is not recommended for breastfeeding women. In case of breastfeeding, this should be reported to the doctor.
Drug Interactions:
This drug interacts with a group of drugs, so if you are using any other type of drug or supplement, consult your doctor before taking this drug
Warnings:
Space the doses evenly throughout the day keep taking this medicine until the course is finished unless you are told to stop.
Precautions:
Patients should be well-hydrated to maintain a high urine volume and avoid dehydration during treatment with valacyclovir.
in Patients with renal disease dosage adjustment is necessary.
valacyclovir should be used with caution in patients with famciclovir hypersensitivity, ganciclovir hypersensitivity, penciclovir hypersensitivity, or valganciclovir hypersensitivity. Alternative agents such as foscarnet or cidofovir may be suitable since they are not structurally related to these antivirals.
This medicine should be used with caution and under the supervision of a doctor in the elderly over 65 years of age.

Side Effects:
Each drug, in parallel with the desired therapeutic effects, may also cause some unwanted side effects. Although not all of these complications occur, consult your doctor.
Common side effects of this drug include the following:
Headache, nausea, vomiting, confusion, diarrhea, skin reaction after exposure to light (photosensitivity), itching, rash
The rare side effects of this drug are as follows:
Allergic reaction such as difficulty in breathing, Urticaria, drowsiness, confusion, hallucination, restlessness, shivering, stomach pain, shortness of breath, rash, lower back pain, presence of urine in blood, imbalance in walking, Epilepsy and convulsions, slowness in speaking, changes in brain function
In case of other side effects, inform your doctor immediately.

Store below 30 °C and protect from light and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Dosage Form:
Valacyclovir 500 mg: Each F.C tablet contain 500 mg Valacyclovir (as hydrochloride)
Valacyclovir 1000 mg: Each F.C tablet contain 1000 mg Valacyclovir (as hydrochloride)
